Summary in English
On this page non-Spanish speakers will find a summary of the key insights from the buzz analysis we are doing for the Spanish elections.
During the coming weeks - until the Spanish General Elections on the 9th of March 2008 - I will frequently publish analyses of online buzz about the main competing political parties and the most important politicians during this campaign.
The most notable buzz trends until now are on one side the dominance - with respect of the amount of buzz or online conversations - of the conservative Partido Popular (PP) in online news and in the blogoshpere.
On the other side, the leftist Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE) is leading the buzz frequency in YouTube.
One (of several) possible explanation of the observed trends is that of generational differences with respect of political values and attitudes. Peter Leyden at the New Politics Institute argues that the generation following the Generation Xers, namely the Generation Y, is changing (online and offline) politics through the “progressive politics of the massive young Millennial generation” (for more information, visit Newpolitics.net).
So please visit this blog frequently in order to be updated about the political trends in the Spanish web sphere.
